Good Stuff for dad's:

Old movie good view of Autism check out "Mercury Rising" Universal Pictures 1998. It stars Bruce Willis as a FBI agent who gets caught up in a missing child plot wrapped in action and government schemes to cover up a breech to security. OK-I know what your thinking...what does this have to do with Autism. Well it's a guy movie for starts. It features a character a young boy of age 9 who is Autistic. He is a sweet little kid who encounters some really bad things. The movie portrays (I think) the picture of how Autism affects children like "Simon", his parents, teachers, and others who come to know him. This film shows the traits, some of the methods used to help him navigate the world, and gives hope that these kids can be reached. I liked it. I think it was probably not the best action movie I had ever seen, but that wasn't why I watched it. I wanted to see how autism was presented. I thought it was a good thing. This film can help you see Autism traits and how some of what your Aspie does is related to the other diagnosis on the spectrum. You will see the connections. Not sure where to find it. I saw it on my cable line up. If any one finds it out there drop a line here and I will post it.
